For years we citizens trusted our elected and appointed officials to take care of the people. Over time, that blind trust allowed them to put their financial welfare over the welfare of the people, when they gave themselves a massive retroactive pay raise in secret session.
As a result of the survey done by the students (and future leaders of Guam) of Simon Sanchez High School; a group of concerned citizens came together to hold our elected and appointed leaders accountable for their actions, and formed Guam Citizens for Public Accountability.
During the run up to the 2016 elections, we worked closely with another group of citizens - Guamanians for Fair Governemnt- to hold our elected officials accountable. Working together to educate the public on what was happening in the legislature, and what we as citizens can do to change it.
We started watching their actions of our elected officals and held them accountable. And we saw the results of our combined efforts with the massive changes that took place in the 2016 election.
With the 2018 election coming up, we are going to work together again to watch the actions of our elected and appointed officials very closely.
We welcome all people who are concerned about our island and the future of our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, to join us,and help hold our elected and appointed officials accountable. If you would like to receive our newsletter reporting on the actions of our elected officials, or learn how you can get involved an help protect the future of Guam, you can send us a note on the CONTACT Page, or you can send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
